The Grottoes at Rosh Hanikra

The Grottoes at Rosh Hanikra is one great example of an extraordinary product of nature’s continuous geological formation.  Sequence of underground shocks caused the splitting of the cracks into the rock layer.  Rainwater went inside the huge fissure. This triggered the melting of the fissures and eventually forming inside tunnels and grottos or sea caves.  It persistently spread out due to the strong force of the waves crashing the rock during a storm.

If you are adventurous enough, dare to visit the grottos during winter time as you experience a thrill of excitement in nature’s true beauty.  Be captivated as you hear the sounds and feel the shocks of the waves crashing into the grottos.  Enjoy the satisfying warmth at the grottoes due to the energy that is being discharged as the waves smash into the grottoes.  Taste the sea spray when the speed of the wind is more intense during strong storms as the height arises to 35 meters or more and goes up above the edge of the cliff.  It is highly suggested to wear winter attire when visiting this place for safety measurements.

The total length of the pathway at the location of the grottoes is 200 meters.  Night time visits are safe since the place is all well lit-up.  The opening hours during summer are 8:30-18:00 and on winter are from 8:30-16:00. The entrance fee for adults is 40 NIS and 32 NIS for children.
