Taking a Time Off for Hanukkah

Hanukkah is one of the busiest Jewish holidays. This is a special time to spend with family and friends and to plan special Hanukkah activities. If you want to enjoy the holiday, you might want to get a time off from work. Here are some tips on how you can successfully get a time off from work for Hanukkah.

  • Make sure that you know your company’s policy on taking time off from work. Some companies do recognize holidays including Hanukkah and may even close offices during these holidays.
  • You may also want to talk to your Human Resource Manager regarding some protocols for getting a time off during Hanukkah.
  • As much as possible, file your time off request early. Inform your supervisor regarding your plan of getting a time off. If you have a task or project that has to be finished on or before the Hanukkah week, work on it early.
  • Explain to your colleagues the significance of Hanukkah so they will understand how important it is for you to take a time off.
