Sing Songs for Hanukkah

Songs are part of every Hanukkah celebration. We sing songs of praise to God for giving us our freedom from our oppressors and to give thanks for all the blessings that he gives us. The Festival of Lights is a joyous festival and we sing songs of happiness and thankfulness.

  • Learn and participate in singing songs during Hanukkah service in the synagogue. It does not matter if you are singing out of tune or if you’re unfamiliar with some of the songs. What is important is your participation during this activity as a way of praising God.
  • Buy Hanukkah albums and songs from Jewish artists. There are lots of Jewish albums you can buy on Amazon like those of Jonathan Settel’s, David Gabay’s Erestz Yisroel and Craig Taubman’s Celebrate Hanukkah.
  • There is also Jewish music streaming available online. Most Jewish websites providing this require payment but there are also free music streaming sites.
  • You can also add a twist in performing some Hanukkah ceremonies like singing instead of just reciting the blessings before lighting the Hanukkah menorah. You can also sing Rock of Ages as you tell the story of Hanukkah to your kids.
