Over 2,000 Jews Pray for Girl Shot by Taliban

In a touching display of support and concern for a young Pakistani girl who stood up to the Taliban and was rewarded with a gunshot to her head, more than 2,000 Jews prayed – in unison – for her recovery.

The event was held at the Anti Defamation League’s (ADL) 18th annual Concert Against Hate at Washington’s Kennedy Center. ADL National Director Abraham Foxman dedicated the event to 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai.

“Malala Yousafzai was courageous in her determination to stand up to the forces of evil and extremism, and to speak clearly for her conviction that women deserve better from a society and a system that has failed them in Pakistan,” said Foxman.

The concert featured music by the National Symphony Orchestra and testimonials about extraordinary acts of courage.
