The Transportation Ministry has opened segregated preventive driving courses for ultra-Orthodox men wishing to avoid studying alongside women.
Ynet has learned that the initiative was launched following requests received from some parts of the haredi public. According to a source in the ministry, a haredi person not interested in taking a mixed course may study in a segregated classroom.
“We accepted their appeal as this is a sensitive matter,” the source stated. “One must understand that the haredi sector is very strict about using segregated buses, and suddenly here they face mixed classrooms with secular girls for many hours.”
