Repairing the World One Less Chik’n Biscuit at a Time

How do we teach our children to put beliefs into action? At what point do we move our family ethical framework from dinner conversations to being moved to act by a cause?  Years ago I hit the internet to make reservations at the closest hotel to Crawford, Texas, home of the Bush ranch.  Protests were taking place against the war and we relished the thought of teaching the boys how to exercise their first amendment rights by peacefully carrying signs opposing the war near Bush’s ranch.

The poster boards and thick markers were purchased but Hurricane Katrina stepped in and our tikkun olam (repairing the world) project that summer took a different turn.
