Ben-Gurion University

Ben-Gurion University was stirred by the forethought of David Ben-Gurion, who is Israel’s first Prime Minister. He had a notion that the country’s future lies in this state. The University was instituted in the year 1969. Its aim is to bring development in the Negev. The University plays an important role in advocating agriculture, education and industry in Negev and other regions.

At present, Ben-Gurion University is the chief center for research and teaching. There are campuses found in Eliat, Sede Boger, Beersheva, and more. Over 19,000 students are enrolled in the field of Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management and the Kreitman School of Advanced Graduate Studies. Apart from that, the University also contains major research organizations like the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Zionism and Israel and many more.

The Joyce and Irving Goldman Medical School, which is renowned globally, has become a great example for community-oriented and comprehensive medicine. At the same time, education degree and social work programs provide Beersheva and its territory with the greater part of its social service staff.

Ben-Gurion University awaits exciting challenges in modern fields of research. It looks forward to present new opportunities to Beersheva and the Negev while maintaining its quest for academic excellence and increasing its involvement to the society.
