Bnei Brak gets twin sister

The ultra-Orthodox central city of Bnei Brak has found a twin sister overseas – Lakewood, New Jersey, which also has a very large haredi community.

In a ceremony held last week in the Israeli city, Bnei Brak Mayor Yaakov Asher and his American counterpart, Menashe Miller, signed a Twin City Alliance in a bid to jointly develop and advance the Torah centers in the two cities.

About two months ago, the Bnei Brak mayor visited Lakewood, a city of 100,000 residents, half of whom are ultra-Orthodox Jews. Bnei Brak has 170,000 residents.
