$5 Chickens for Kaporos at NCFJE

1-4Subsidized chickens for the traditional Kaporos ritual will once again be provided for Crown Heights residents by the NCFJE.

The discounted $5 price tag is made possible by a generous contribution from diamond mogul Morris Gad for the eighth consecutive year. He is joined by local landlord and developer, Rabbi Dovid Fischer, as co-sponsor.

Chickens will be available Tuesday, September 10, from 2:00pm outside the NCFJE offices on Eastern Parkway, between Kingston and Albany. The discounted price is for Crown Heights residents only.

“The community really owes Morris Gad and Rabbi Fischer a tremendous debt of gratitude,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht, Chairman of NCFJE and a noted Crown Heights activist.

“Every year we get regards from dozens and dozens of families who literally could not afford to spend an extra dollar. They simply would not be able to observe the minhag if not for their generosity,” he told CrownHeights.info.
